Tarumanagara Foundation was founded on June 18, 1959, by a small number of Chinese community leaders. They were a social and educational organization known as Sin Ming Hui or New Light Society. The responsibility for managing and developing a university fell to this group. The house in which the incarnation of the Foundation was forged was an educational institution which later evolved into Tarumanagara University.

Tarumanagara Foundation is a social organization involved in the fields of education, health and social welfare. The foundation’s three main branches include trustees, managers and supervisors. The objective of the Foundation is to assist with the development of the nation’s educational, health and social systems through innovative participation and to be guided by the Constitution of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The Foundation has cultivated the spirit of Pancasila. Pancasila is an Indonesian ideology espoused by virtuosity, culture, professional ethics, knowledge and skills capable of creating jobs and being responsible for the nation’s development.

To achieve these aims and objectives, the Foundation carries out and maintains projects including:

Establishment of Tarumanagara University, Royal Taruma Hospital, Tarumanagara Knowledge Center and Tarumanagara Fitness Center. It also organizes other legitimate activities to achieve and support the Foundation’s goals.
